- Wind vane: points straight into the wind to track direction.
- Barometer: tracks atmospheric pressure — a falling reading often means stormier weather ahead, rising means it's clearing up.
- Rain gauge: most commonly a tipping-bucket design, where tiny buckets flip back and forth as rainwater collects, each tip counting a precise amount.
