Picture a classroom where the day's lesson is written by the sky. That's the idea behind the brand-new Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station now running at Inabanga North Central Integrated School (INCIS), installed July 9–10, 2024 with support from SEEDS Asia, a Japanese non-governmental organization.
The station is the centerpiece of a bigger mission: "Enhancing Coping Capacities Towards Extreme Weather by Promoting Disaster Management and Meteorological Education in Schools Through Youth-led Weather Observation," funded by the WNI WxBunka Foundation. In plain terms: teaching students to read the weather so they can help keep their whole school and community safer.
SEEDS Asia and APEXS trained school staff on operating the station, logging data, and basic upkeep, so INCIS can run a genuine youth-led weather observation program for years to come. A warm arigato to Ms. Nana Sugaya of SEEDS Asia for championing this project.
