SEEDS Asia and INCIS Partner to Enhance Weather Education and Disaster Preparedness

Inabanga North Central Integrated School (INCIS) has installed a Davis weather station on Tuesday, July 9-10, 2024, with the support of SEEDS Asia, a Japanese registered non-governmental organization (NGO).

This installation is part of a larger project titled "Enhancing Coping Capacities Towards Extreme Weather by Promoting Disaster Management and Meteorological Education in Schools Through Youth-led Weather Observation," funded by the WNI WxBunka Foundation. The project aims to empower students with weather observation skills, enabling them to understand weather patterns and contribute to informed decision-making within their schools.

The newly installed Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station at INCIS is capable of measuring various weather parameters, including temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed, and rainfall. SEEDS Asia, in collaboration with APEXS Incorporated, conducted training for school personnel on how to operate the weather station, record data, and perform maintenance.

This initiative will foster a youth-led weather observation program, integrating weather education with disaster management practices at INCIS. The project aims to establish strategic guidelines for incorporating school-based weather observation into the curriculum and emergency preparedness plans.

Arigato, Ms. Nana Sugaya of SEEDS Asia, for your dedication to this important project!
